This Fall, we launched our first ever Tutor Scholarship Raffle to support the Knack Tutors who go above and beyond by donating their time and expertise to serve their campus communities. After making the announcement in October, we saw an even greater push to give back on campus, and we are proud to say that Knack tutors provided more free tutoring this semester than ever before, resulting in hundreds of hours of free academic assistance for students in need.
Today, we have the incredible honor of announcing our three Peer Support Scholarship winners.
🥇 First Prize – $2,000 Scholarship ($1,500 scholarship + $500 book scholarship)
Our top prize goes to Maarten De Haan, an experienced Physics, Math, and Programming tutor at Florida State University. Maarten is pursuing a degree in Physics and is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2020. It’s only right that his name was selected, given that he provided more than 17 hours of free tutoring to students in need this semester.
🥈 Second Prize – $1,500 Scholarship
Our second prize goes to Xavier Chua, an experienced Calculus, Statistics, and Writing tutor at the University of Florida. Xavier is in his fourth year at UF, double-majoring in Economics and Statistics. After graduating, Xavier will continue his studies at UF by pursuing a Master’s in Economics.
🥉 Third Prize – $500 Book Scholarship
Our third prize goes to Dalel Herrera, an English and Music tutor at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas. Dalel recently completed her undergraduate studies at UNLV, where she majored in English. She begins her first semester of grad school in January.
Congratulations to our three winners and a huge thank you to all of the tutors who participated! Be sure to stay tuned for future scholarship opportunities and keep up the excellent work you’ve been doing to support your campus community.
Happy Knacking & Happy Holidays!
