Expand Academic Support For Your Students Through Peer Tutoring


New York University has partnered with Knack to provide free peer tutoring for students in select courses through a flexible, student-centered support model that complements the work already being done by NYU’s other academic support services, such as the University Learning Center (ULC), Polytechnic Tutoring Center (PTC), and department-based tutoring

What is Knack?

Knack partners with colleges and universities to expand academic support through peer tutoring powered by students themselves. By connecting students with high-performing peers who know the coursework firsthand, Knack helps institutions support learning across more classes while creating meaningful opportunities for developing professional skills, flexibility, and belonging across campus.

Tutors must earn Grade Req in eligible courses

Tutors must earn an A- or higher in eligible courses

How Knack Supports NYU Students

Free peer tutoring on Knack is currently available to New York University students in select courses. Through the partnership, students can connect with peer tutors who have already succeeded in their coursework, expanding access to flexible academic support while strengthening peer connection and engagement across campus.

Help Expand Peer Support at NYU

Faculty play an important role in helping identify students who would make strong peer tutors. Any student who has earned an A- or higher in your course(s) is eligible to tutor through Knack at NYU.

By recommending strong students, you can help expand access to academic support while creating meaningful leadership and paid opportunities for students.

Benefits for Peer Tutors:

  • Earn $18/hour as a peer tutor

  • Tutor select courses where they earned an A- or higher

  • Maintain control over their own working hours

  • Tutor online or on campus

Upon receiving a recommendation, the Knack team will help interested students create a tutor account and get started supporting their peers.
